Mr. Toru Shindo joined UNJSPF in 2004 and currently serves as Chief Investment Officer, Director, for the Office of Investment Management.
With over 25 years of investments experience, Mr. Shindo is responsible for management of investments. He had been responsible for all of the asset classes including the Global Fixed Income and Real Assets since February 2009 until the unit was curved out in 2017. He joined the UNJSPF as Investment Officer for Asia Pacific in February 2004 and became Senior Investment Officer for Asia Pacific in Apr 2007. He was promoted to Deputy Director in February 2009 and to Chief Investment Officer in May 2021.
Prior to joining UNJSPF, Mr. Shindo was a Director at Deutsche Trust Bank in Tokyo focused on active management of international equity for the public and private pension funds. With over 25 years of experience in the industry, Mr. Shindo has been previously associated with Bankers Trust and Nikko Securities.
Mr. Shindo earned his BA in Economics from Hitotsubashi University in Tokyo and his MBA from New York University. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
